Frisco TX spring events run from March to May: the Black Heritage Celebration and Texas Pinball Festival in March, Frisco Uncorked and the RoughRiders’ home opener in April, then SAVOR, Frisco StrEATS and, in 2027, the PGA Championship in May. Several are free, and our full Frisco events calendar handles the rest of the year.

This guide is for anyone planning a March, April or May trip: families on spring break, couples chasing patio weather, golf fans circling May 2027. The one caveat that matters is timing. Most 2027 dates weren’t posted when we checked, so treat the 2026 dates below as the pattern, not a promise. Visit Frisco published its 2026 spring festival lineup on February 20, which is a fair guide to when firm dates tend to appear. Checked September 26, 2026.

If you can only pick one stretch, make it the last weekend of April through the first weekend of May. In 2026, Uncorked, SAVOR and StrEATS all fell inside those nine days, with RoughRiders baseball running in the background. The trade-off is hotels: that’s also when youth tournaments and golf traffic compete for the same rooms.

Verdict: Late April is the sweet spot for festivals. Early March is the value play, with free events and softer hotel demand.

March: pinball, heritage and the first ballgames

March in North Texas is moody. Highs climb from the 60s into the low 70s, and a warm, sunny Saturday can follow a cold, rainy Friday. Pack a real jacket along with the sunglasses. Texas schools take spring break in March, so expect more families around town and busier weekends at the indoor attractions.

The upside is that March events are mostly free or indoors, which makes them easy to build a trip around even when the forecast wobbles.

Black Heritage Celebration

This one-day festival fills Kaleidoscope Park at 6635 Warren Parkway, inside HALL Park, with local Black-owned businesses selling food, art and fashion, plus live music. The 2026 edition ran Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it was free with no tickets needed.

It works well with kids because it’s open-air and you can leave whenever you like. The park itself is worth the trip: Janet Echelman’s Butterfly Rest Stop stands in the Arts Plaza, and HALL Park calls it one of the largest outdoor public art installations in Texas.

Here’s the local move: the Frisco Rotary Farmers Market sets up next door at 3000 Internet Blvd. every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get coffee and produce at the market first, then walk over to the festival when it opens.

Verdict: The best free event of early spring. Go in the morning, while vendors still have time to talk.

Texas Pinball Festival

This is the one to plan a rainy March weekend around. The festival fills the Embassy Suites & Frisco Conference Center at 7600 John Q Hammons Dr. with more than 400 pinball machines and classic video games, all set to free play. In 2026 it ran March 20 to 22, with doors open from 8:30 a.m. until 1 a.m.

Weekend passes cost $60 for children and $105 for adults in 2026. That sounds steep until you do the math on three days of unlimited play.

Close-up of an illuminated pinball playfield with glowing lights and bumpers
The Texas Pinball Festival puts more than 400 machines like this on free play each March.

Saturday is the busiest day at almost any fan convention, so if you want the rare machines without a queue, go Friday or Sunday morning. If you plan to stay late, book a room in the host hotel early; walking to your bed at midnight beats driving the tollway.

Verdict: Worth the pass price for anyone who’ll play more than a few hours. Casual visitors should skip it and spend the money elsewhere.

Holi and community celebrations

Frisco and neighboring Plano have large South Asian communities, and Holi, the festival of colors, turns up at temples, schools and cultural associations each spring. The date follows the Hindu calendar and usually lands in March. These events rarely appear on the city’s calendar, so search community and temple listings a couple of weeks before your trip, and check whether the event is in Frisco or in Plano, Allen or McKinney.

Sports season wakes up

FC Dallas plays its MLS home matches at Toyota Stadium, a 20,500-seat stadium it has called home since 2005, and spring evenings there are about as pleasant as North Texas gets. The National Soccer Hall of Fame sits at the south end of the stadium, which makes a good pregame stop or a rainy-day backup.

MLS kickoff dates shift from season to season, so check the club’s schedule before you book. Our season-by-season Frisco sports calendar tracks the openers, exhibitions and tournaments that pile up between late February and April.

Verdict: A night match in March or April is one of the easiest good evenings in Frisco. Bring a layer; it cools off fast after sunset.

Why is April the best month for Frisco festivals?

April is when the weather and the calendar line up. Highs sit in the mid-70s, patios fill, bluebonnets show up along North Texas roadsides, and outdoor events stack up on the weekends. For a deeper look at the weather by month, read our guide to the best time to visit Frisco.

Two warnings. April and May are the region’s severe-weather season, with fast-moving thunderstorms that can bring hail. And oak pollen is brutal in April; if you’re allergic, pack the medicine before you need it.

Easter weekend

Easter falls early in 2027, on March 28, so the egg hunts move into late March rather than April. In 2026, local TV coverage reported an Easter Eggstravaganza in the PGA District at Omni PGA Frisco on April 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a scavenger hunt, carnival games and a petting zoo. Whether it returns for 2027 wasn’t posted when we checked.

Otherwise, churches, neighborhood associations and nearby cities run their own hunts. Search about two weeks ahead and check the age groups, since toddler and big-kid hunts often start at different times.

Easter falls on March 28 in 2027, so Frisco-area egg hunts move into late March.

Verdict: Easy, cheap fun for families with young kids. Not worth planning a trip around on its own.

Frisco Uncorked

Frisco Uncorked is the spring festival locals mark on the calendar. It takes over Frisco Square at 8874 Coleman Blvd., and the 2026 edition on Saturday, April 25, poured 100 award-winning wines alongside craft beer, cocktails and food from local restaurants. There were grape-stomping competitions and live music, too. Food passes started at $45.

Tasting-size pours are the format at Frisco Uncorked on Frisco Square each April.

Read the ticket tiers carefully before you buy, and decide in advance if you’re there to taste widely or to eat. The bigger point is transport. This is a wine festival, so don’t drive. The free Rail District Boxcar shuttle, a city pilot program, stops at Frisco Square/City Hall and runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. (as of September 2026), which helps if you’re staying or parking along Main Street. Otherwise, use a rideshare.

If you like this kind of event, our guide to Frisco’s food and wine festivals covers the tastings and food events in the other seasons.

Verdict: The single best Saturday of Frisco’s spring. Go early in the session, when the lines are short and the pours are unhurried.

RoughRiders opening week

The Frisco RoughRiders, the Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate, have played at Riders Field since 2003. The ballpark holds 10,316, and it’s the one with the lazy river beyond the outfield. The home opener usually falls in early April.

April night games are lovely until they aren’t. The temperature can drop 15 degrees between the first pitch and the seventh inning, so bring a jacket even if the afternoon felt like summer.

Verdict: The best cheap night out in spring. Pick a Friday or Saturday if fireworks nights are on the schedule.

Spring art: plein air painting and a festival in limbo

Arts in the Square was, for years, Frisco Square’s April juried art fair, with artists selling original work from their own booths. It didn’t appear in Visit Frisco’s 2026 spring festival roundup, and we couldn’t confirm a recent edition, so don’t build a trip around it until the organizers post dates.

The city’s En Plein Air Frisco program is a gentler alternative. Local artists paint outdoors in public spaces, and it’s free to watch. Our guide to art and cultural events in Frisco tracks the galleries and art fairs that are confirmed.

Verdict: A pleasant add-on if the dates line up. Don’t fly in for it.

May: food festivals and a golf major

May turns up the heat, with highs pushing into the mid-80s and humidity starting to show up. Plan outdoor events for the morning or evening, and keep an eye on the radar in the afternoon. May is peak thunderstorm season.

SAVOR at Omni PGA Frisco Resort

SAVOR is the splashiest food event of the spring. In 2026 it ran four days, April 30 to May 3, at Omni PGA Frisco Resort at 3255 PGA Parkway. The lineup included celebrity chefs Scott Conant, Esther Choi and Maneet Chauhan, with interactive food stations, cocktails, live music and fireworks. Prices varied by day.

The resort has 500 rooms on the PGA Frisco campus, so staying on-site makes the evening sessions walkable. If you’re not staying there, you’re driving to the far north edge of Frisco, near US 380 and the Dallas North Tollway.

Pick one day rather than trying to do all four; each session is priced separately.

Verdict: A splurge for serious food people. If you just want to eat well outdoors, StrEATS does it for free.

Frisco StrEATS

Visit Frisco bills StrEATS as Texas’ longest-running food truck festival. The 2026 edition ran Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Frisco Fresh Market, 9215 John W. Elliott Dr., across the street from Toyota Stadium. Entry was free, with food trucks, live music, shopping, craft beer and activities for kids.

Food truck lines like these peak around 1 p.m., so hit StrEATS early or late.

Food truck festivals share one flaw: everybody gets hungry at the same time. Arrive right at 11 or come after 5 p.m. The 1 p.m. peak is when the lines get long and the popular trucks start selling out of their best dishes. Split up, with each person queuing at a different truck, then meet at a table.

Verdict: The best free food event of spring. Go early or late, never at lunch.

The 2027 PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East

This is the big one. The 2027 PGA Championship comes to Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, with championship week starting May 17 and competition running May 20 to 23, 2027. It’s the course’s third major, following the 2023 Senior PGA Championship and the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and PGA Frisco has already listed the 2029 Senior PGA Championship and the 2031 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship after it.

PGA Frisco is a 600-acre campus that also houses the PGA of America’s headquarters, two 18-hole championship courses and an entertainment district. During championship week, expect special event parking and heavy traffic along the northern end of the Dallas North Tollway.

A few practical calls:

  • Buy tickets only through official channels. Resale sites for majors attract fakes.
  • Practice rounds are usually the easier way in. Crowds are thinner and you can get closer to the players.
  • Book your hotel the moment you commit. Rooms across Frisco, Plano and McKinney will tighten that week, and prices will climb accordingly.

Verdict: The biggest spring event Frisco has hosted. If you don’t care about golf, avoid that week or book very early.

Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and the turn to summer

Mother’s Day falls on May 9 in 2027, and brunch tables at the popular spots go fast; book at least two weeks out. Memorial Day is May 31, 2027.

Mid-May is also when summer infrastructure switches on. The splash pad at Frisco Commons Park opens May 15 and runs daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through September, though it can close for maintenance or cool weather. From there the calendar hands off to summer and, on July 4, to Frisco Freedom Fest. Summer, fall and winter each get their own guide.

Which Frisco spring events are free?

More than you’d expect.

Free Paid
Black Heritage Celebration Texas Pinball Festival
Frisco StrEATS (you pay the trucks) Frisco Uncorked
Frisco Rotary Farmers Market SAVOR
Kaleidoscope Park programming RoughRiders and FC Dallas games
Frisco Heritage Center and its Second Saturdays program PGA Championship
City concert series such as Live on the Lawn Resort Easter and Mother’s Day brunches

Frisco Rotary Farmers Market

The market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3000 Internet Blvd., beside Kaleidoscope Park in HALL Park. The Rotary Club of Frisco runs it, and vendors bring local produce and honey, pasture-raised meat and eggs, roasted nuts, baked goods, olive oil, pasta, jams and chutney.

It operates rain or shine, closing only for high winds, lightning or hail, which is a real consideration in spring. The market’s website doesn’t list its season months, so if you’re coming in March, check before you go.

Kaleidoscope Park and the city’s free music

HALL Park describes Kaleidoscope Park’s free, year-round programming as including films, concerts, fitness classes, and music and dance festivals, and spring is the most comfortable season to catch it. The City of Frisco also runs its own music series, including Live on the Lawn and the Calaboose Singer Songwriter Series. Our Frisco concerts and live music guide has the venues and series worth tracking.

Frisco Heritage Center

The Heritage Center at 6455 Page St. is free and open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The grounds hold the Heritage Museum, historic houses, a depot, a wooden caboose and a steam locomotive. It also runs a recurring Second Saturdays family program, which makes a good low-key spring morning with young kids.

Verdict: You can fill a spring weekend in Frisco without buying a single ticket. Save the budget for one paid headline event.

Spring festivals worth the short drive

Denton’s spring calendar rivals Frisco’s, and McKinney adds a second Saturday market.

Event Town Drive from Frisco Square Cost
Thin Line Fest Denton 35 to 45 minutes Varies
Texas Storytelling Festival Denton 35 to 45 minutes Varies
Twilight Tunes Denton 35 to 45 minutes Free
Denton Community Market Denton 35 to 45 minutes Free
McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square McKinney 25 to 35 minutes Free to browse

Denton

Thin Line Fest is a five-day festival of film, music and photography, and the Texas Storytelling Festival is also a spring fixture. Twilight Tunes brings free concerts to the downtown courthouse lawn, and the Denton Community Market is a free, producer-only art and farmers market with live music. Take US 380 west.

One schedule change to know: the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival is now a fall event, so it’s no longer part of a spring trip.

McKinney

The McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square Historic Village, 315 S. Chestnut St., runs Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon from April through December. Pair it with a walk around the historic downtown square.

Verdict: If you’re in Frisco for three or more days, give one evening to Denton. It has more going on than you’d guess.

How should you plan a spring weekend around Frisco events?

Getting there and around

From DFW Airport, Frisco is roughly 25 to 40 minutes via SH 121, depending on traffic. From Dallas Love Field, allow 35 to 50 minutes up the Dallas North Tollway. DART rail doesn’t reach Frisco, so you’ll want a car or rideshare.

Both the Dallas North Tollway and SH 121 (the Sam Rayburn Tollway) are toll roads. If you’re renting, ask how the company bills tolls before you leave the lot. For downtown events, the free Rail District Boxcar shuttle runs Fridays 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (as of September 2026), with 13 stops along Main and Elm streets.

Parking and timing

Festival lots near the gates fill first, so arrive at opening or plan on a walk. For anything involving wine, beer or fireworks, use a rideshare and skip the parking scramble entirely.

Do outdoor things in the morning. Spring storms tend to build in the afternoon and roll through in the late afternoon or evening. Keep one indoor backup in your pocket, such as the National Soccer Hall of Fame or a movie, and see our Frisco weekend planner for more rainy-day ideas.

What to book, and when

  • Hotels first. Youth sports tournaments quietly fill room blocks on spring weekends, and spring break adds families in March. Book three to four weeks out for a normal weekend and months ahead for PGA Championship week.
  • Which tier. Resort stays such as Omni PGA Frisco put you inside the action for SAVOR and the PGA Championship. Full-service hotels near The Star and Legacy are central for everything else, and limited-service chains along SH 121 are the budget play. Prices rise with big events and tournament weekends. Our Frisco hotels guide breaks down the areas.
  • Tickets. SAVOR, pinball passes and PGA Championship tickets are worth securing early. Uncorked sells passes in advance; buy once your dates are firm.

What to skip

Skip driving to Uncorked. Skip StrEATS at lunchtime. Skip booking a nonrefundable outdoor plan for a single May afternoon. And if golf means nothing to you, skip the week of May 17, 2027, entirely.

Verdict: Book the hotel first, plan outdoor time for mornings, and keep one flexible afternoon. That covers most of what can go wrong.

Frequently asked questions about Frisco TX spring events

What is the biggest spring event in Frisco in 2027?

The 2027 PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East, PGA Frisco. Championship week starts May 17, and competition runs May 20 to 23, 2027. It’s the course’s third major after the 2023 Senior PGA Championship and the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Expect hotels across the area to fill well ahead, and buy tickets only through official channels.

When is Frisco Uncorked?

Frisco Uncorked is usually held on a Saturday in late April at Frisco Square. The 2026 edition was on April 25, with 100 award-winning wines, craft beer, cocktails and food from local restaurants, and food passes started at $45. The 2027 date hadn’t been posted as of late September 2026, so check before booking your trip.

Are spring festivals in Frisco free?

Many are. The Black Heritage Celebration and Frisco StrEATS were free to enter in 2026, and the Saturday farmers market, Kaleidoscope Park programming and the Frisco Heritage Center cost nothing. Paid events include Frisco Uncorked, SAVOR, the Texas Pinball Festival, the PGA Championship and RoughRiders or FC Dallas games.

What’s the weather like in Frisco in spring?

March highs run from the 60s into the low 70s and swing a lot day to day. April is usually the pick, with highs in the mid-70s. May pushes into the mid-80s with more humidity. April and May are also severe-weather season, so watch for afternoon thunderstorms and occasional hail.

Is there an Easter egg hunt in Frisco?

Yes, though they’re spread across organizers. In 2026, local TV reported an Easter Eggstravaganza in the PGA District at Omni PGA Frisco on April 4, and churches and neighborhood groups run their own hunts. Easter falls on March 28 in 2027, so start looking in mid-March and check age groups and start times.

When does the Frisco farmers market run?

The Frisco Rotary Farmers Market sets up every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3000 Internet Blvd., next to Kaleidoscope Park in HALL Park. It runs rain or shine but closes for high winds, lightning or hail. The website doesn’t list season months, so check it before an early spring visit.

What should I book first for a spring trip to Frisco?

Your hotel. Youth sports tournaments and spring break fill rooms on spring weekends, and PGA Championship week in May 2027 will squeeze the whole area. After that, lock in tickets for anything that sells out, like SAVOR sessions and pinball weekend passes, and reserve Mother’s Day brunch early.

Final thoughts

Spring is Frisco at its most generous: comfortable weather, a string of free festivals and a food calendar that peaks in the last week of April. In 2027 it also brings a men’s golf major to town, which changes the math for anyone booking around mid-May. Pick your anchor event, book the hotel early and keep a rainy-day backup. For what’s happening in the other eleven months, from Freedom Fest to Frisco’s Christmas events, start with our year-round guide to Frisco festivals.
