The best date night in Frisco TX usually pairs dinner at The Star or on Main Street with one small shared activity: a password speakeasy, lighted putting at PGA Frisco, a candlelit concert or a free sculpture-garden walk. Frisco rewards a little planning, and our complete guide to things to do in Frisco covers the rest.

This guide is for couples who live here and for visitors with one good evening to spare, from nervous first dates to twentieth anniversaries. The one caveat worth knowing: Frisco’s date spots sit in three clusters about 10 to 20 minutes apart by car, so pick a cluster instead of zigzagging across town. Checked September 26, 2026.

Date idea Cost for two Time needed Best for Book ahead?
Steakhouse dinner Splurge 2 to 2.5 hours Anniversaries, big news Yes, always on Fri and Sat
Rare Books Bar speakeasy Moderate 1 to 2 hours Second dates, long talks No, but get the weekly password
The Dance Floor putting course Check PGA Frisco’s current rates 1 to 1.5 hours Playful, slightly competitive couples Check PGA Frisco’s page
Illuminate candlelight concert See the city’s listing About 1.5 hours Music lovers, quiet romantics Yes, as soon as dates post
Texas Sculpture Garden walk Free 45 to 90 minutes Early dates, tight budgets No
Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar Moderate 2 hours or more Extroverts, double dates Arrive early on weekends
Premium or dine-in movie Low to moderate About 3 hours Low-pressure nights Yes, pick seats online
Bowling, arcades, axe throwing Low to moderate 1.5 to 2 hours Couples who like to compete Lanes on weekends

Costs are relative, not quotes: splurge means a steakhouse check with wine.

Where should you take a date to dinner in Frisco?

Dinner is the anchor of almost every good date here, so book it first and build the evening around the reservation. The places below were built for lingering. If red meat is the whole point, our side-by-side guide to Frisco steakhouses goes deeper.

Book dinner first, then build the rest of the evening around the reservation.

Randy’s Steakhouse (Main Street)

Randy’s has been a Main Street fixture for more than three decades, and it still feels like the grown-up choice. Visit Frisco’s listing (September 2026) describes seven dining rooms, two fireplaces, patio dining and a wine list of 200-plus selections. Seven rooms matter more than they sound: smaller spaces are quieter than one big open floor.

Ask for a fireplace room when you book; on a cool night, it’s the table to have.

Dee Lincoln Prime (The Star)

Dee Lincoln Prime is a prime steakhouse at The Star with an in-house sushi bar, and Visit Frisco pitches it as romantic and classy. The sushi bar is the underrated part: one of you gets the ribeye, the other something lighter, and nobody compromises.

It sits at The Star, so after-dinner drinks are a short walk away. That makes it the easiest dressy date in the city.

Trick Rider (Omni PGA Frisco Resort)

Trick Rider is the steakhouse inside the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, serving signature steaks, seafood and shellfish. The draw is the setting: you’re steps from The Dance Floor putting course and the lighted par-3, so dinner and an activity happen in one place. It’s roughly 15 to 20 minutes north of The Star up the Dallas North Tollway, worth the drive if you’ll use the golf side too.

eight | 11 place (Historic Downtown)

Not every date needs a steak knife. eight | 11 place is a neighborhood spot in a historic house on Main Street, serving artisan-style pizza, panini, shareables, beer, wine and cocktails. The patio has a propane fire, weekends bring live music, and in September 2026 Visit Frisco was highlighting a Fireside S’more Board.

This is the best low-key first date in town. It’s casual enough that nobody feels overdressed, and cozy enough that the evening doesn’t feel like a job interview.

The Glen (The Star)

The Glen, in The Star district, trades quiet for spectacle: Visit Frisco describes unusual cocktail service and aerial acrobats. Save it for a birthday, when you want the room to do some of the entertaining.

Restaurant Area Style Best for
Randy’s Steakhouse Main Street Classic steakhouse, fireplaces, big wine list Anniversaries
Dee Lincoln Prime The Star Prime steaks plus a sushi bar Split cravings
Trick Rider Omni PGA Frisco Resort steakhouse with seafood Dinner plus putting
The Glen The Star Cocktails with aerial acts Celebrations

Verdict: Book Randy’s for an anniversary, eight | 11 place for a first date, and Trick Rider when you want dinner and an activity without getting back in the car.

Speakeasies, piano bars and after-dinner drinks

The second stop is where a good date turns into a great one, or quietly ends. Choose based on whether you want to talk or laugh, because Frisco’s after-dinner options are firmly one or the other. For a wider list, see our roundups of Frisco cocktail lounges and the best bars in Frisco.

Bartender pouring a cocktail from a shaker into a coupe glass on a dim bar top
Classic cocktails are the focus at Frisco’s speakeasy-style bars, including the one behind a bookcase.

Rare Books Bar (inside J. Theodore)

Rare Books Bar is a speakeasy hidden behind bookshelves inside J. Theodore. To get in, you pick up an old telephone and give a password that changes every week; the bar posts it on its Facebook and Instagram. The drinks lean classic: proper cocktails, rare bourbons, Irish whiskey and Scotch, with desserts made in house.

Look up the password before you leave home, and go on a weeknight if you can, since Fridays and Saturdays are when everyone else has the same idea.

Bottled in Bond and The Parlour

Bottled in Bond opened in 2017 as a Prohibition-style bar built around American whiskey and bespoke cocktails, and added The Parlour cocktail lounge in summer 2021. The signature move is a rotating whiskey flight paired with candied bacon. Late-night bites run to chicken n’ waffles and corny dogs.

Order one flight and split it. Comparing pours gives you something to talk about that isn’t work, which is half the battle on an early date.

Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar (The Star)

Man in a black suit playing piano inside a bar while a woman sits at the counter
Piano bars trade polish for participation, which makes them better third dates than first ones.

Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar, listed by Visit Frisco at 6765 Winning Drive near The Star, runs a high-energy sing-along piano show. The format lives on crowd requests and group singing, so the room gets loud and stays loud.

That’s the point and the warning: it’s a poor first date if you want to talk, and a great third date or double date.

A few more pours worth knowing

  • The Revel Patio Grill: Visit Frisco’s live-music guide lists dueling pianos on Fridays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (as of September 2026).
  • Concrete Cowboy at The Star: a high-energy spot with a patio overlooking the Ford Center and room to dance. Skip it if you both prefer a corner booth.
  • Comedy: a laugh is a solid icebreaker; see our guide to Frisco comedy shows and open mics.
Bar Noise level What to order or do Best for
Rare Books Bar Low Classic cocktail, house dessert Long conversation
Bottled in Bond Medium Whiskey flight with candied bacon Whiskey fans
Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar High Request a song Laughing together
Concrete Cowboy High Patio, then the dance floor Couples who like a crowd

Verdict: Rare Books Bar is the best second stop in Frisco for talking. Pete’s is the best for laughing. Don’t try to do both in one night unless you’re getting a ride home.

Playful date ideas: putting greens, hitting bays and game nights

Doing something side by side takes the pressure off sitting face to face. Frisco is unusually good at this, mostly thanks to PGA Frisco.

The Dance Floor and The Swing at PGA Frisco

Putter lined up behind a golf ball on a closely mown natural-grass green
Natural-grass putting under lights is the idea behind The Dance Floor at PGA Frisco.

The Dance Floor is a lighted, two-acre, natural-grass putting course co-designed by Gil Hanse and Beau Welling, and PGA Frisco bills it as one of the largest of its kind in the US. You can putt with a drink or an ice cream cone in hand, and putter and ball rentals are available, so nobody has to own clubs. Non-golfers do fine here, sometimes better, because they don’t take it seriously.

The Swing, next door, is a lighted 10-hole par-3 from the same designers. It welcomes all skill levels, but it’s real golf, so if one of you has never held a club, stay on the putting course. Public play is walk-up only with no tee times; resort guests can reserve up to 120 days out.

Day The Dance Floor and The Swing hours (as of September 2026)
Monday and Tuesday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Go after dark on a weeknight, when the lights set the mood and the crowd is thinner. To stretch it into a weekend, see our breakdown of Omni PGA Frisco golf packages.

Ice House hitting bays

Ice House at PGA Frisco has six live hitting bays with Toptracer tracking, cold drinks, barbecue from the restaurant and views over the Fields Ranch practice facility. Six bays isn’t many, so call the restaurant to reserve one rather than hoping to walk in.

Topgolf Swing Suite at the Westin Stonebriar

Inside the Westin Stonebriar Golf Resort & Spa, the Topgolf Swing Suite runs golf, baseball and hockey simulators, with clubs provided and food from the resort’s Beans & Barrel restaurant. It’s the bad-weather version of the PGA Frisco date; our guide to rainy-day activities in Frisco has more.

Bowling, arcades, axe throwing and escape rooms

  • Main Event Frisco, at the northwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Main Street, has 28 bowling lanes, Gravity Ropes, mini golf, laser tag and more than 100 games.
  • Strikz has 32 bowling lanes, a two-story laser tag arena, an arcade and billiards, plus axe throwing and the Strikz Grill & Bar.
  • Back in Time Escape Room is inside Stonebriar Centre, as is Dave & Buster’s.

To see how you work as a team, pick the escape room or axe throwing. Bowling is fun, but you mostly watch each other.

Activity Where Fine for non-golfers? Reserve?
The Dance Floor PGA Frisco Yes Check PGA Frisco’s page
The Swing PGA Frisco Some golf helps Walk-up only for the public
Ice House bays PGA Frisco Yes Call the restaurant
Topgolf Swing Suite Westin Stonebriar Yes Check with the resort
Main Event or Strikz Frisco Yes Worth it on weekends

National Videogame Museum

The National Videogame Museum, inside the Frisco Discovery Center at 8004 Dallas Parkway, holds a collection Visit Frisco puts at 100,000 pieces of memorabilia, plus a retro arcade. Exhibits include the Head to Head Wall, Giant Pong and a recreated 1980s bedroom. It’s a great nostalgia date for anyone who grew up with a controller in hand. The museum’s online hours were blank when we checked, so call (972) 668-8400 before you go.

Verdict: The Dance Floor at night is the most fun low-stakes date in Frisco. Save the arcades for rainy nights.

Live music, candlelit concerts and movie nights

Illuminate candlelight concerts

Small stage with a piano and music stands surrounded by hundreds of lit candles
Candlelit concerts like this are the format of the city’s Illuminate series in the Lebanon Chapel.

The City of Frisco’s Illuminate series puts live music in the historic Lebanon Chapel at the Frisco Heritage Center, lit only by candlelight. Past programs include Celtic Fire, Love Songs Through the Ages and Video Game Classics, and in September 2026 the city said more concerts were coming this fall.

This is the most romantic hour on the city’s calendar. Check the city’s Illuminate page for dates and ticket details, and don’t sit on it once a show you like is posted.

Sidecar Jazz Lounge and the city’s music series

Sidecar Jazz Lounge, another city program, pairs live music with a signature mocktail in the Black Box Theater at the Frisco Discovery Center. That makes it the obvious pick if one of you doesn’t drink, and it’s in the same building as the videogame museum. The city also runs Live on the Lawn, the Calaboose Singer Songwriter Series and Music in the Chamber, and lists Theatre Frisco among its arts partners.

Movie nights: XD, IMAX and dine-in

Theater Location Date-night draw
Cinemark Frisco Square and XD 5655 Frisco Square Blvd XD screen with heated recliners
CUT! by Cinemark 6969 US Highway 380 Dine-in theater with The Kitchen at CUT!
AMC Stonebriar 24 Stonebriar Centre, 2601 Preston Road IMAX with Laser, Dolby Cinema, MacGuffins bar

Movies are a weak early date because you can’t talk for two hours. For established couples, a dine-in seat or heated recliner is a perfectly good night.

Game night: RoughRiders, FC Dallas and Stars practices

The Frisco RoughRiders play April through September, so the ballpark is quiet until spring. FC Dallas plays at Toyota Stadium; check its schedule for home dates. Visit Frisco notes that Dallas Stars practices in Frisco are open to the public, a free and slightly offbeat daytime date. For what’s on in a given week, check our Frisco weekend planner.

Verdict: If an Illuminate date lines up with your calendar, take it. Otherwise, the Sidecar Jazz Lounge plus the museum is the most distinctive indoor evening Frisco offers.

What are the best free or cheap date ideas in Frisco?

Some of the best dates here cost nothing. These work best for two, and our full list of free things to do in Frisco has more.

People strolling along a tree-lined park path as the sun sets between the trees
An evening walk costs nothing, and HALL Park’s sculpture garden is Frisco’s best place for one.

Texas Sculpture Garden and Kaleidoscope Park at HALL Park

The Texas Sculpture Garden spreads more than 40 contemporary works across about four acres at the entrance to HALL Park, 6801 Gaylord Parkway. It’s open dawn to dusk daily, and HALL Park counts more than 200 pieces of public art overall. Next door, Kaleidoscope Park holds Janet Echelman’s Butterfly Rest Stop, which HALL Park calls one of the largest outdoor public art installations in Texas.

Kaleidoscope Park runs free public programming through the year, including films and concerts, and Visit Frisco’s events calendar has listed a Date Night at Kaleidoscope Park event. Check the park’s calendar for the next one, or simply time your walk for the last hour before dusk.

A Rail District mural walk

Visit Frisco’s own romantic-getaway ideas suggest mural hopping hand in hand through the Rail District, Frisco’s historic downtown along Main Street. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the free Rail District Boxcar shuttle loops Main and Elm streets, so you can park once and ride between stops.

Add the Frisco Heritage Center to the walk. Its grounds hold the Frisco Heritage Museum, two historic houses, a depot, a wooden caboose and a steam locomotive, good for twenty minutes of wandering.

A picnic at Frisco Commons Park

Frisco Commons Park covers 63 acres at 8000 McKinney Road, with a pond, a paved trail, pavilions, an amphitheater and plenty of benches. It opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset. Pack takeout, find a bench by the pond and stay until the light goes. It’s a better first date than coffee, and cheaper.

Verdict: The sculpture garden at golden hour, followed by pizza on the patio at eight | 11 place, is the best-value date in Frisco.

Three sample date nights, start to finish

Each stays inside one cluster, so you spend the evening together instead of in traffic.

The Star: dressy and walkable

Start with a 6:30 p.m. dinner at Dee Lincoln Prime. Around 8:30, walk over to Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar if you want noise, or The Glen if you want a show.

Main Street: low-key and historic

Make this a Friday or Saturday so the Boxcar is running. Park once around 5 p.m., walk the Rail District murals and the Heritage Center grounds, then have dinner at Randy’s or eight | 11 place. End by the propane fire with the s’mores board if it’s still on the menu.

PGA Frisco: active, with one parking spot

Arrive late afternoon and play The Swing or book an Ice House bay. As the lights come on, move to The Dance Floor with a drink. Finish with dinner at Trick Rider around 7:30 p.m.

Evening Start Dinner After dinner Budget
The Star 6:30 p.m. Dee Lincoln Prime Pete’s or The Glen Splurge
Main Street 5 p.m. Randy’s Steakhouse Fireside s’mores on Main Street Moderate to splurge
PGA Frisco Late afternoon Trick Rider Already done: you putted first Splurge

Planning your date night: getting there, parking, timing and booking

Getting there

Frisco straddles Collin and Denton counties, and the main arteries are the Dallas North Tollway running north to south, SH 121 (the Sam Rayburn Tollway) along the south edge, and US 380 across the north. The Star sits near the tollway and Warren Parkway. Main Street and the Rail District are roughly 10 minutes north of The Star by car, and PGA Frisco is about 15 to 20 minutes north. From DFW Airport, allow 30 to 45 minutes to The Star, longer at rush hour.

Frisco has no DART rail, and the city’s on-demand GoZone service covers only about a third of town, so for a date with drinks, rideshare is the sensible call.

Parking

The Star, Stonebriar Centre and PGA Frisco are built around car traffic, with large lots and garages. On event nights at The Star, arrive early. Main Street is tighter, which is where the Boxcar earns its keep: it’s a free pilot shuttle with 13 stops along Main and Elm from World Cup Way to North County Road, including Frisco Square and City Hall.

Boxcar day Hours (as of September 2026)
Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Monday to Thursday No service

Timing

Weeknights are the quiet secret. Restaurants have tables, the putting course has room, and bars are calm enough to talk. The one weekday catch: The Dance Floor and The Swing don’t open until 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. October and November are prime patio months, and from late November the city shifts into holiday mode, so see our guide to Frisco holiday events for free Christmas in the Square and more.

What to book and what to skip

Book dinner, Illuminate seats, an Ice House bay and movie seats. Don’t bother booking The Swing, because the public can’t. Skip trying to string The Star, Main Street and PGA Frisco into one night, and skip any chain you could eat at back home. Seasonal ideas, one-of-a-kind experiences and easy drives within half an hour each get their own guides on this site soon.

Staying the night

Hotels fall into three rough tiers. The resorts, like the Omni PGA Frisco and the Westin Stonebriar, cost the most and put activities on site. Mid-range business hotels around The Star and SH 121 work well for walkable evenings. Budget options along the tollway suit couples who’d rather spend on dinner; our list of budget hotels in Frisco sorts them out. Rates climb on big event weekends; expect resort prices to jump around the 2027 PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East, May 17 to 23, 2027.

Frequently asked questions about date night in Frisco TX

What is the most romantic restaurant in Frisco?

For a classic romantic dinner, Randy’s Steakhouse on Main Street is the strongest pick, with seven dining rooms, two fireplaces and a 200-plus bottle wine list. Dee Lincoln Prime at The Star is the dressier alternative with a sushi bar. For a relaxed first date, eight | 11 place and its fire-pit patio are warmer and less formal.

What can couples do in Frisco at night besides dinner?

Plenty. Putt under the lights at The Dance Floor at PGA Frisco, find the password for Rare Books Bar, sing along at Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar, or catch a candlelit Illuminate concert in the Lebanon Chapel. Bowling, axe throwing and escape rooms at places like Strikz and Stonebriar Centre cover rainy nights and competitive couples.

Are there free date ideas in Frisco?

Yes. The Texas Sculpture Garden at HALL Park is free and open dawn to dusk, and Kaleidoscope Park next door runs free films and concerts through the year. You can also walk the Rail District murals using the free weekend Boxcar shuttle, picnic by the pond at Frisco Commons Park, or watch a Dallas Stars practice.

Do you need a reservation for PGA Frisco’s putting course and par-3?

Not for The Swing: public play on the lighted par-3 is walk-up only with no tee times, while resort guests can reserve up to 120 days ahead. The Dance Floor putting course rents putters and balls on site; check PGA Frisco’s page for current access rules. Both open at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and earlier on other days.

How do you get into Rare Books Bar in Frisco?

Rare Books Bar is hidden behind bookshelves inside J. Theodore. You pick up an old telephone and say the password, which changes weekly and is posted on the bar’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. Check it before you leave home, and arrive early on Fridays and Saturdays.

Is The Star or Main Street better for a date?

It depends on the mood. The Star is dressier and walkable, with Dee Lincoln Prime, The Glen and Pete’s within a short stroll, which suits celebrations. Main Street and the Rail District feel older and slower, with Randy’s, eight | 11 place and mural walks. For a first date, Main Street is usually the more relaxed choice.

Final thoughts

A great date night in Frisco isn’t about cramming in the most stops. Pick one cluster, book dinner, and add one shared thing, whether that’s a password speakeasy, a lighted putting green or a candlelit chapel. And when you want daytime plans too, start with everything else Frisco has going on.
